People of Kurasu is an interview series documenting the people behind Kurasu.
The first episode features Akane, the shop manager at Kurasu. Her relationship with coffee did not begin with a clear plan. She started drinking coffee as a student, and during the pandemic she began brewing at home when going out became difficult. Over time, she realized coffee had been supporting her through many moments in life, and that feeling gradually turned into a desire to give something back through coffee.
For Akane, Kurasu coffee is something that can be enjoyed over time. Not just in the first sip, but in the way its character continues to change as it cools. That sense of slow enjoyment is one of the things she values most about Kurasu coffee.
She also compares coffee to visiting a museum. Each cup is shaped by the work and intentions of many different people, and everyone who drinks it is free to experience it in their own way. In this episode, Akane shares her relationship with coffee and what she enjoys about working as part of the café team.
