The name Hario originated from the combination of the Japanese word hari (玻璃) or glass and o (王) or king, combined formed the meaning the King of Glass. The unnecessary needed accessory. You don't need to actually use it to drip your coffee, but it is needed to make your coffee corner looks better.
After finishing my brew, I used to use my drinking mug as the vessel to carry the "dirty" dripper to the kitchen sink immediately, empty the mug, and came back to my coffee. W/ the drip tray, i no longer need to make that extra detour. Once I finished brewing, i just needed to place the "dirty" dripper to the tray next to my scale. Save so much time. It's one of those "mundane" accessory that has so much impact on your workflow.
You can definitely use something else for a drip tray, but the original just feels... right 😀
I recently bought several items this being one that caught my curiosity to my work flow at home. When I opened the box I was instantly delighted with the build quality of porcelain and weight that came with this item. Obviously, a great pairing with V60 brewers Tetsu, Magen, but also great when making tea. The size and heft requirer you give it respect when you reach for it, when you make use of it, even when you clean it. A wonderful item I take pride in owning.
